May 03, Kathmandu- Senior Vice President of the CPN-U, Rajendra Pandey, has claimed that 15 petrol bombs were thrown at the airport during the royalist protest on Chaitra 15. Pandey said this while addressing the general convention of the Indigenous Peoples Federation affiliated with the CPN-S on Saturday.
"There is a big petrol pump near the airport. It has millions of liters of oil. That is specially arranged for the airport," Pandey said. "They threw 15 petrol bombs to set that place on fire. Who did it? The royalists did it."
He claimed that if there had been a fire there that day, 60 percent of the 6.5 million people in Kathmandu would have died. "Kathmandu would have been destroyed. Nepal would have failed. The airport would have been destroyed. Foreign planes would not have come for years," he said.
