May 04, Kathmandu- Representatives of various organizations of conflict victims have submitted a letter to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, demanding that the recommendation process for office bearers of two commissions related to transitional justice be made credible and transparent.
In a meeting held today at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, representatives including conflict victim Devi Khadka expressed concern that the recommendation committee had not consulted them and that an environment of trust had not been created.
The letter of appeal also demands that a person who is impartial and trustworthy by the victims should be recommended as the chairperson and members of the commission, without party affiliation.
Explaining that this process has taken a long time due to political misunderstandings, he also announced that those who commit heinous crimes against humanity such as rape will be brought to justice and punished before being released, and that the victims will be released after being provided with justice and compensation.
