Chinese President Xi To Visit Russia This Week

May 04, Kathmandu- Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia from May 7 to 10 to attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Germany, the Kremlin said on Sunday.

During the visit, Xi will hold bilateral talks with Putin on “developing partnership and strategic relations” and “issues on the international and regional agenda,” the Kremlin said in a statement. “A series of bilateral documents are expected to be signed during the visit, which will be attended by heads of state and government ministers of the two countries,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on May 9 ordered a three-day ceasefire in the war in Ukraine to mark Russia’s victory over Germany in World War II. China has portrayed itself as a neutral party in the three-year war, although Western governments say its close ties with Russia have provided Moscow with significant economic and diplomatic support.
