Teachers Busy Checking SEE Answer Sheets After Protest

May 05, Kathmandu- The work of checking the answer sheets of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) has progressed. Teachers have started checking the answer sheets since last Friday. National Examination Board Chairman Dr. Mahashram Sharma informed that teachers are busy checking the answer sheets at 50 answer sheet testing centers across the country.

The board has stated that 30,000 teachers have been deployed for the paper testing. The Nepal Teachers Federation ended the street protests and academic strike on the 29th day of Baisakh 17 after reaching a 9-point agreement with the government.

Chairman Sharma said that the paper testing work has started from Friday itself. The board had set a time limit of 15 days for the paper testing. He said that it will be decided whether the results can be published or not according to the schedule made public by the board earlier, based on the status of the paper testing.

It is said that the board can mobilize additional teachers for paper testing in coordination with the district-based Education Development and Coordination Unit. In the past, paper testing was done during the holidays after the academic session. However, this time, teachers were in Kathmandu for a street protest during the holidays. Now that schools are open, teachers also have to work overtime.

The board has stated that it will take a month to complete the internal process after the paper testing is completed. The board had previously planned to release the results within three months of the end of the examination. It had made a schedule to publish the results on Asadha 07.

However, this time, since the paper testing work started late, it is not possible to say whether it can be made public on that date or not, said Chairman Sharma.
