Britain To Help Ease Tensions Between India And Pakistan

May 07, Kathmandu- Britain has said it is ready to help both countries to ease tensions between India and Pakistan. Britain's Trade Minister Jonathan Reynolds has said he is ready to help after the nuclear-armed neighbours reached their highest level of tension in two decades.

He said, "We are friends and partners of both countries. We are ready to help both countries. Our message will be that we can and are willing to do everything we can to help them de-escalate tensions and support them through dialogue for regional stability," he told BBC Radio 4.

Pakistan's Foreign Office has advised British nationals not to travel within eight kilometres of the India-Pakistan border, 16 kilometres of the Line of Control and everyone to avoid travelling to Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province.

He said, "We are monitoring the situation closely. British nationals should stay up-to-date with our travel advice and follow the advice of local authorities."
