May 08, Kathmandu- The state has added another new case against Rabindra Mishra, senior vice-chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Mishra, who was previously involved in cases related to crimes against the state and organized crime, has now been charged with criminal harassment.
This is the third case filed by the government against Mishra, who was arrested after the incident in Tinkune on Chaitra 15. Mishra was produced before the Kathmandu District Court on Thursday for an extension of his remand. During the hearing, he accused the judge of once again using the state's 'black ink' against him.
"Today, on the 42nd day, the state has put a third black mark on my forehead," Mishra said. "For 41 days, I was carrying charges of crimes against the state and organized crime. Now, charges of criminal harassment have been added. I believe that this court and bench have the authority and integrity to remove that mark." Mishra said that the filing of a new case was objectionable and raised questions about judicial impartiality and independence.
