Meta Removes Instagram Page Named 'Muslim' At India's Direction

May 09, Kathmandu- Meta has banned an Instagram account named 'Muslim' (@Muslim) that posts news and content related to the Muslim community. According to international media outlets, Meta has banned the account in India from Wednesday on the instructions of the Indian government. With the increase in tension between India and Pakistan, India has started censorship work on online media. This is also an example of this step.

After the ban on his page, the founder of the page, Amir-al-Khatabe, has opposed this move of the Indian government through his social media. Stating that his page was started for the benefit of the Muslim community, he has also demanded that Meta withdraw its decision.

The account has 6.7 million followers. The page is very popular as a page that provides information about the Muslim community from all over the world. However, Indian users are currently not able to access this page.

Earlier, the Indian government had banned the YouTube channels including the social media accounts of Pakistani artists.
