World Cup Asia qualifiers: Nepal-Hong Kong match cancelled

May 09, Kathmandu- The match between Nepal and Hong Kong, which was scheduled to be held today under the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, has been cancelled.

The match between Nepal and Hong Kong, which started today in Thailand, was cancelled without even a toss after the field was soaked by rain on Thursday. With this, both teams have shared one point each.

Nepal will now play its second match against Hong Kong on Baisakh 29. Along with hosts Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Bahrain and the UAE are participating in the qualifier. They have been divided into three groups.

Nepal has been placed in Group 'C'. Hong Kong and Bahrain are in Nepal's group. Similarly, Group 'A' includes hosts Thailand, Bhutan and Kuwait. Group 'B' includes the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Malaysia and Qatar.

The group stage will be held on a double round-robin basis. All teams will play the teams in their respective groups twice. The top team in the group will advance to the Super Three. The top two teams from the Super Three after the league stage will advance to the Global Qualifiers.
