May 09, Kathmandu- Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the Unified Socialist Party of Nepal and former Prime Minister, has undergone angioplasty.
Nepal underwent angioplasty at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center in Maharajgunj on Thursday morning.
Angioplasty is a medical procedure to remove blockages in blood vessels (especially the coronary arteries). Sometimes, blood vessels become narrowed due to accumulation of fat or other substances, which causes problems with blood flow. Angioplasty is performed to resolve this problem.
According to the doctor, Nepal had a heart problem from the beginning.
‘He already had a problem with his heart veins. The surgery was done as planned,’ the doctor said, ‘His health condition is improving now.’
The doctor has advised Nepal to rest for a few days after the heart treatment.
