Nepal Defeats Bahrain By 9 Wickets In World Cup Qualifiers

May 10, Kathmandu- Nepal has registered a nine-wicket win over Bahrain in the second match of the league stage of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers.

The match was reduced to 5.5 overs due to rainfall. Nepal achieved the target of 42 runs set by Bahrain in 4.2 overs for the loss of one wicket.

For Nepal, opener Kavita Kunwar batted aggressively and scored 18 runs off 11 balls with the help of 4 fours. She was run out. Another opener Samjhana Khadka scored 13 runs off 10 balls, while captain Indu Verma remained unbeaten on 7 runs off 5 balls.

Earlier, Bahrain, who won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 41 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the stipulated 5 overs. For them, Deepika Rasangika played a brilliant innings of 34 not out in 13 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Tharanga Gajanayake contributed 3 runs and Zeinab Fazil contributed 2 runs.

Pooja Mahato took the only wicket for Nepal. Deepika hit 20 runs with 1 six and 3 fours off Sabnam Rai, who bowled in the last over of the match, as Bahrain made a competitive score. The first match between Nepal and Hong Kong in the tournament was called off due to rain.
