Pakistan Defense Minister says – India expected victory, but failed

May 11, Kathmandu- Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that India's aggressive strategy has completely failed.

Speaking at a press conference after the ceasefire, he said that while India had expected an easy victory, it had exposed itself on both the military and diplomatic fronts.

“Indian pride has now vanished into thin air,” said Minister Asif.

Asif claimed that India had carried out an “unprovoked attack” on Pakistan on May 7 in the latest military clash, killing at least 31 innocent civilians. In response, Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets and several drones, and carried out precision strikes on Indian military installations as part of a military operation called “Operation Bunyan-um Marsoos.”

“India was surprised by Pakistan’s swift and decisive response,” he said.

According to Asif, while India has failed to convince the international community of its claims, Pakistan's restraint, clarity and fact-based approach have been praised worldwide. "India's narrative has been devoid of evidence, which has seriously damaged its credibility," he said.

He said that the Indus Waters Treaty is currently suspended after India unilaterally withdrew from the treaty after the Pahalgam attack. He also informed that Pakistan is preparing to initiate international legal proceedings against this move.
