PM Oli Claims That The Himalayan Crisis And Infrastructure Construction Are At The Center Of Policy Programs

May 11, Kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year will address the growing climate crisis in the Himalayan region.

Responding to questions raised during the discussion on the policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year in today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Oli made this claim. He also expressed his commitment to Nepal to take active diplomatic initiatives to demand compensation, climate finance and green finance from carbon-emitting countries. He also announced that the 'Sagarmatha Dialogue' will be internationalized in favor of climate justice.

Informing that the physical infrastructure and tourism sectors have been prioritized in the present policy and program, he also said that investment will be promoted through public-private partnerships in structures such as tunnels, expressways and overfly passes. He said, "It is necessary to continuously raise awareness to control the situation that a major disaster will be created if the Himalayas are at risk due to carbon emissions in the world. Nepal will dialogue, debate and advocate for appropriate compensation, climate finance and green finance from carbon-emitting countries. It will internationalize the Sagarmatha Dialogue based on the Mountain Economy. The issues of programs that will give results in the physical infrastructure and tourism sectors have been included in this policy and program. Similarly, the issue of promoting public and private investment in the physical infrastructure sector for high and sustainable economic growth and emphasizing modern construction such as tunnels, expressways and overfly passes has also been mentioned."

Prime Minister Oli said that the policy and program has emphasized the long-term physical infrastructure and climate diplomacy agenda.
