May 11, Kathmandu- Pakistan's Foreign Ministry has welcomed US President Donald Trump's statement on the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry posted on X, "Pakistan welcomes US President Donald Trump's statement on India-Pakistan relations."
It further said, "We appreciate the constructive role played by the United States, along with other friendly countries, in supporting the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India."
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said it appreciates President Trump's readiness to support efforts to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
The statement said, "This is an old issue, which has serious implications for the peace and security of not only South Asia but also the entire world."
The statement further read, “Pakistan reiterates that any just and lasting resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and must take into account the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, especially the right to freedom of expression, and the peace and security of the people.”
Earlier, Donald Trump had posted on social media on Sunday that he was trying to find a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue with India and Pakistan.
