Hamas has called it an attempt to reach a ceasefire agreement. Hamas has said the prisoner release will help deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
Israel has been cutting off humanitarian aid to Gaza for the past 70 days.
The Palestinian militant group is in direct talks with a US administration official in Qatar, BBC News reported.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office said the US had already informed it of the release of Eden Alexander.
President Trump confirmed the release of Eden Alexander on the social media platform 'Truth Social'.
Eden Alexander was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, but grew up in New Jersey, USA.
Alexander, 21, worked in a special military unit on the Gaza border. He was captured by Hamas on October 7.
