Online TV Journalist Association Strongly Objects On The Anti-journalist Remarks In 'Comedy Night' Trailer

May 12, Kathmandu- The Online TV Journalist Association has expressed serious objection to the anti-journalist remarks made in the trailer for Episode 7 of the recently released Comedy Night with Champaign.

The program's host Kailash Karki had used derogatory language towards journalists in the trailer and said that those who do not ask questions in his favor should be slapped in the face with slippers. The association has protested, saying that the statement has tarnished the dignity and professional freedom of the entire journalist community.

Pawan Phuyal, general secretary of the Online TV Journalists Association, issued a press release, stating that the statement was not just a personal opinion but an attack on all digital journalism and press freedom. The association has also made a clear demand to the organizers and stakeholders of the program to remove the objectionable part from the trailer.

If the statement is maintained, the association will be forced to take legal action, the statement said.

This incident has highlighted the need to take seriously the devaluation and contempt of the press in the name of freedom of expression. The Journalists Association has urged immediate correction as such statements weaken public trust in the press and journalists.
