Thank you to India and Pakistan for their restraint: Prime Minister

May 12, Kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has thanked India and Pakistan for their restraint. Prime Minister Oli made the remarks while addressing a ceremony to mark the Buddha Jayanti in Lumbini on Monday.

"Just a few days ago, there was a slight clash between our neighbors, India and Pakistan, but it did not escalate. Thank you for your restraint. We said from the beginning that it should not escalate," Prime Minister Oli said. "We wished that this situation of clashing should not turn into a war, we also talked to them. Without saying anything, they expressed their commitment not to let it escalate."

He said that the teachings and teachings of Buddha are important for the world. He said that the message and ideals of Buddha are very useful for the peace of every individual, society, nation and the world.

“The message of peace of Buddha is still relevant today, wherever it is, for the individual, for the peace of the individual’s own state of mind, for the peace of the family and for everything. Peace is important for everything,” he said.

Stating that the construction and stockpiling of weapons of mass destruction is taking place today, the Prime Minister said that this is a very dangerous thing for human existence and the existence of the earth.

“Therefore, to get rid of this dangerous situation, we must once again stand in favor of world peace and work. In this context, after a few centuries, as Buddhism spread, it came to some places and remained in the form of Mahayana, somewhere it came to some places as Theravada, somewhere it came to some places as Vajrayana. ,” said Prime Minister Oli, “Although there are minor differences in all the schools, the main thing is the teachings of Buddha, the teachings of peace, the teachings of humanism and the teachings of compassion. Therefore, the main thing is that we should go into this and not into the differences. We should embrace the main teachings and ideals of Buddha.”

Similarly, he said that the government is working to complete the work as soon as possible according to the master plan of Lumbini.
