May 13, Kathmandu- Singer Amar Lama has passed away. Born in Deval, Badikedar Rural Municipality-3 and residing in Khanidanda, Chure Rural Municipality, Kailali, the singer Lama passed away at the age of 47.
Lama, who is also the senior vice-president of the Sudurpaschim Province Committee of the Musicians' Association, was admitted to Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi, Kailali on Chaitra 17 after falling ill. He was taken to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu on Baisakh 14 for further treatment.
He passed away on Monday night while undergoing treatment. According to Dr. TN Joshi, Vice Chancellor of Sudurpaschim Pragya Pratishthan, Lama had made a great contribution to the art, music and culture of the Far West. Surat Rawat, Chairman of Deuda Pratishthan, said that Lama's death has caused a great loss to the music sector of the Far West.
