May 13, Kathmandu- The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a case against six people on charges of embezzling over Rs 50 million from savers. The case was filed in the special court today against six people, including Baliram Prasad Kurmi, the office chief of the Bara District Post Office, informed Rajendra Kumar Poudel, spokesperson of the commission.
A complaint was filed alleging that Kurmi, who is currently the office chief, has been in charge of the savings bank since 2060 BS and has arbitrarily misappropriated the savings of savers without keeping any records.
Based on the same complaint, the CIAA stated that during the investigation, it was found that he, in collusion with the then office heads, had misappropriated the amount of money that was supposed to be saved by savers by dividing it among themselves.
According to spokesperson Poudel, a charge sheet has been filed against Kurmi and the then office heads of the District Post Office Bara, Jayalal Prasad Shah Kanu, Adalat Prasad Kurmi, Bunni Prasad Yadav, Surendra Prasad Yadav and Sujit Kumar Shah, for corruption.
The authority claims that it has been revealed that they have embezzled more than Rs 53.564 million by embezzling the principal and interest of the savings collected from savers.
53 million 564 thousand 279 rupees and imprisonment and fine have been demanded against them.
