May 15, Kathmandu- Nepali Congress MP Mohan Basnet's parliamentary seat has been automatically suspended. His parliamentary seat was suspended after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a corruption case against Basnet and 16 others in the purchase of Terramax, demanding more than Rs 3.21 billion in damages and imprisonment.
Basnet's parliamentary seat was suspended after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority registered a corruption case in the Special Court.
According to the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2058, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, 2048, if a case is registered against a person in a public office, he is automatically suspended.
