Worker Dies Of Electrocution In Dhulikhel

May 17, Kathmandu- A laborer died after being electrocuted while working on an electricity pole in Dhulikhel today.

Upesh Pariyar, 28, of Gharibatha, Ishworpur Municipality-12, Sarlahi, died while working on an electricity pole in front of the Dhulikhel Municipality-7 District Administration Office, which is being extended by the Kavrepalanchok Distribution Center through the Nepal Electricity Authority.

According to the District Police Office, Pariyar died on the spot after being electrocuted at 11:30 am while working on a pole of an 11,000-volt high-tension line. Deputy Superintendent of Police Min Bahadur Ghale, the office's information officer, said that a team under the command of Police Inspector Dinesh Bahadur Kunwar has been deployed from the office to investigate the incident.

It is said that Pariyar, who was climbing a pole to connect the wire, died of electrocution when the Electricity Authority left the power line without notice. The Electricity Authority Kavrepalanchok Distribution Center Banepa issued a notice on Friday, appealing to the public not to leave livestock around the line and not to touch electrical equipment including electricity poles as the 11 kV line will be charged in the area from Saturday. The body has been kept at Dhulikhel Hospital for an autopsy, according to police.
