Death Toll Rises To 103 In Israeli Attack On Gaza

May 18, Kathmandu- Overnight and into Sunday, Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip resulted in at least 103 fatalities, according to reports from hospitals and doctors in the region.

For over 19 months, Israel has escalated its war in the region, with no signs of de-escalation. Airstrikes in and around Khan Younis, a southern city, claimed over 48 lives, some of which hit homes and tents sheltering displaced individuals, as reported by Nasser Hospital. Among the deceased were 18 children and 13 women, according to hospital spokesman Wim Fares.

In the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, an attack on a house claimed the lives of nine members of the same family, as stated by the Gaza Health Ministry's emergency services.

Another attack on a family home in Jabalia resulted in 10 fatalities, including seven children and a woman, according to the Civil Defense, which operates under the Hamas-run government.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the overnight strikes. Israel attributes civilian casualties to Hamas, citing the group's operations within civilian areas.

Israel has intensified its war in Gaza with a new offensive named “Gideon’s Chariot.” The plans include seizing territory, displacing millions of Palestinians in southern Gaza, and exerting greater control over aid distribution.
