May 18, Kathmandu- Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City has been officially declared fully immunized and sustainable, following the successful vaccination of children aged 16 to 23 months and 16 to 59 months. These vaccinations encompassed the required doses administered within the 15-month timeframe.
The declaration was made in a ceremony attended by key officials, including District Coordination Committee Chief Gyanendra Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Sita Karki, Deputy Chief of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City Kamaruddin Rai, and others.
During the event, officials commended the efforts of health workers in achieving full vaccination and sustainability. Health Division Chief Ram Bahadur Chand reported that out of 3,357 children aged 15 to 23 months in Nepalgunj, 3,111 have completed their vaccinations. Furthermore, a household survey identified 218 dropouts and 28 children who had not received any doses.
Nepalgunj was previously declared fully vaccinated in 2076 and has maintained its sustainability status annually. With seven out of eight municipalities in Banke already achieving full vaccination and sustainability, the district is nearing its own declaration, with Narainapur Rural Municipality expected to be declared soon, according to Acting Chief of the Health Office, Banke Naresh Babu Shrestha.
