May 19, Kathmandu- The American Embassy in India has warned that even after exceeding the visa period, there may be permanent ban on staying in the US.
On May 17, the US Embassy said in an email, “If you overstay your visa, you may be subject to deportation and may be permanently barred from traveling to the US in the future.”
“Visa violations are serious offenses. They can have serious consequences,” the embassy added. “Providing false information or forged documents can result in permanent visa bans and criminal prosecution.”
The embassy has advised against taking any risks in the future by working with illegal visa agents.
The post of the US embassy has created a debate in India. Some people are criticizing it.
An Indian wrote on X, “This language is rude and inappropriate. You are addressing all Indians as if they are illegal immigrants in the US. This is the first time I have seen an embassy issuing such a threatening order to its host country’s citizens.”
