May 19, Kathmandu- At least 22 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza on Monday. Rescuers in Gaza said that the army has intensified the attack.
Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud A Bassal said there were continuous attacks in and around the main city of Gaza, with 11 people killed and many wounded in Khan Yunis.
He said that five people were killed in an airstrike near a market in the west of Jabaliya city.
Three people from the same family were killed in an airstrike on a shop in Nuseirat, central Gaza, and two people were killed in another attack on a shop in northern Gaza City.
Deaths were also reported at the Beit Lahia hospital, but the bodies could not be recovered due to the continuous bombardment, Bassal said.
Gaza's Hamas-run Health Ministry accused the Israeli army of imposing a siege, forcing the hospital to shut down, affecting service delivery.
The Israeli army said on Monday it was conducting its latest intensive operation "in the entire Gaza Strip."
