May 19, Kathmandu- In a recent session of the House of Representatives, Minister Nawal Kishore Shah Sudi disclosed that the government plans to extend social security allowances to senior citizens aged 68 and above starting from the upcoming fiscal year.
Responding to queries related to the ministry of the House of Representatives meeting today, Minister Sudi stated that efforts are underway to broaden the scope of social security programs, ensuring more elderly citizens benefit from the scheme from the fiscal year 2082/83.
Currently, as per the budget statement for the fiscal year 2079/80, social security allowances are provided to senior citizens aged 70 and above under the existing social security program. The upcoming expansion aims to include those aged 68 and above, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing support for the elderly population.
