Minister Chaudhary Promises Construction Of Disabled-Friendly Stadiums

May 19, Kathmandu- Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary has announced plans to construct disabled-friendly stadiums across the country shortly.

Responding to a question raised by a Member of Parliament during a National Assembly meeting, Minister Chaudhary stated that Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, as well as Pokhara and Surkhet Stadiums in Karnali Province, have already been made accessible for disabled athletes. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all new sports infrastructure and stadiums under construction will be designed to be disabled-friendly.

Stating that various national-level competitions have been organized for para sports, Minister Chaudhary informed that to encourage para sports players, the same system of awards will be implemented as for other players.

Admitting that due to lack of budget, it has not been possible to provide awards to players who have won titles in various international competitions immediately, he said that every possible effort is being made for budget management.

Earlier, Jag Prasad Sharma had questioned why the government has not yet invested in the Paralympic Games and has not taken any initiative to build a single disability-friendly stadium across the country.
