May 20, Kathmandu- China CAMC Engineering Company Limited has formally objected to the recent report by the Audit Committee regarding the Pokhara Regional International Airport, asserting that the allegations made against the company are "erroneous, unfounded, misleading, and biased."
The report, submitted by a subcommittee led by Rajendra Lingden, accused the project of corruption amounting to over Rs 8.23 billion. In response, CAMC issued a statement emphasizing that the comments against it do not align with the facts.
“The content mentioned in the report about our company is completely inconsistent with the facts. It shows a lack of in-depth investigation and objective analysis of the entire implementation process of the project, which we find extremely surprising and worrying,” the statement read.
The company highlighted that despite facing significant challenges such as complex geographical conditions, inflation, and the COVID-19 pandemic, the airport’s construction was completed in March 2022. The handover certificate was subsequently signed between the governments of Nepal and China on December 29, 2022. CAMC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and the integrity of its work on the project.
