May 20, Kathmandu- The team of the Nepali film 'Eklo' has announced its participation in the '2025 Cannes Film Festival' being held in the coastal city of Cannes, France. The hero of the film Aklo, Pradeep Khadka, and director Pradeep Shahi, participated in the red carpet of this festival. Actor Pradeep has informed the media that they are participating in this festival to promote Nepali films. Actor Pradeep has postponed the shooting of his other film Airi and reached France for this festival.
Nepali film 'Eklo' has set up its own stall at the Cannes Film Market, called ‘Marche du Film’. Previously, Nepali films had not set up a stall at this festival. The production team has stated that negotiations are underway between international distributors, sales agents and producers to sell the film through this stall.
Actor Pradeep has informed that the producers of the film 'Eklo', Ritesh Rana, Sangeeta Shrestha, Bhai Raja Thapa, Raju Gurung, and Utsav Bista, have also participated in Cannes at the ‘Cannes Market’. According to him, Rishta Karki, the co-operative director of this movie, is working there as a market manager for the international distribution of the movie movie Eklo. Its director Pradeep Shahi has said that they are trying to connect Nepal and the film Eklo at Cannes this time.
This film, produced in the science fiction genre, stars Pradeep Khadka, Benisha Hamal, Bijay Lama, Sunil Thapa, Diya Pun, Dinesh DC, Suraj Singh Thakuri, Avanraj Upreti, Kabita Nepali, Trichu Rai, Krishna Bhakta Maharjan and others. The production team has also stated that the film, which is executive produced by Binod Subedi 'Kshitij', aims to be released in Nepal soon.
