Nepali Congress Denounces Propaganda Linking Chair Deuba To Monarchy

May 22, Kathmandu- The Nepali Congress has issued a strong objection to the spreading of false propaganda suggesting that Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba’s views support the monarchy. Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel issued a statement condemning reports claiming to reflect the President’s opinion, which he described as misleading and fabricated.

The statement emphasized Chair Deuba’s pivotal role in safeguarding and advancing the achievements of the Nepali people, particularly through his sacrifices during the historic People’s Movement of 2062/63. It highlighted his contributions toward establishing the Federal Inclusive Democratic Republic of Nepal and striving for a democratic system rooted in freedom, equality, and social justice.

It is said in the statement, that it is contrary to the meaning and spirit of journalism to propagate what he has not said, said and thought in a fabricated manner by misusing the means of mass communication. The Nepali Congress strongly condemns and condemns such misleading and fabricated news, regardless of who has done such an act.

The party reiterated its commitment to protecting the achievements of all democratic movements and urged the public to be cautious about believing unverified news. The Congress emphasized that misinformation aimed at misrepresenting the President’s views is unacceptable and condemned any such attempts to distort facts.
