May 22, Kathmandu- The Indian Hockey Federation on Thursday handed over sports equipment as assistance to the Nepal Hockey Association.
Nepal Hockey Association General Secretary Subarna Shrestha, who is also a member of the Executive Committee of the National Sports Council (NSC), informed that 5,500 hockey sticks and balls and training equipment have been received as assistance.
The team, which arrived in Nepal on Thursday, including Asian Hockey Federation Vice President and Hockey Association of India General Secretary Bholanath Singh, Indian Hockey Federation Treasurer Shekar Manoharan and Hockey Association of India Managing Director Ravi Kant Srivastava, handed over the materials.
The team also met separately with Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, NSC Vice President Dhruv Acharya and NSC Member Secretary Tankal Ghising on Thursday.
During the meeting, the situation of hockey in Nepal, India's support for the development of hockey in Nepal, training and other issues were discussed.
Minister for Communications Gurung expressed confidence that the support of the Hockey Association of India for the development of hockey in Nepal will continue in the coming days and thanked them for the support.
The Indian officials had committed to training Nepali players as well as providing all possible support to the Hockey Association of India to promote Nepal's hockey.
Hockey Association President Anil Prasad Sharma, hockey chief coach Ranjan Thapa and others were present on the occasion.
