Meeting Between Foreign Minister Dr. Rana And JICA Chairman

May 23, Kathmandu- A meeting has been held between Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Dr. Tanaka Akihiko, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA.

The meeting, held at the JICA headquarters in Tokyo, discussed various issues of Nepal-Japan bilateral relations and mutual interest. During the meeting, Minister Dr. Rana expressed her gratitude on behalf of Nepal for the long-standing support provided by the Japanese government through JICA in various sectors including economic and social development in Nepal. She appreciated the support provided by JICA for Nepal through its Basic Assistance Policy in areas such as economic growth and poverty alleviation, disaster risk reduction and climate change, and strengthening good governance and democracy.

On the occasion, Minister Dr. Rana appreciated the recent assistance provided by the Japanese government through JICA to several areas of Nepal, including the construction of the Nagdhunga Tunnel, the reconstruction and maintenance of the Sindhuli-Bardibas Road, and others. During the meeting, they also discussed issues related to Nepal-Japan relations, JICA's assistance to Nepal, climate change and its impact, disaster management, good governance, and senior citizens.
