May 24, Kathmandu- Rice worth 35.53 billion rupees has been imported till the end of Baisakh of the current fiscal year 2081/82.
The Customs Department has stated that 698,905.98 metric tons of paddy rice worth 35.53 billion 80 lakh 12 thousand rupees were imported from Shrawan 2081 to the end of Baishakh 2082.
According to the data released by the department for the last 10 months, a revenue of Rs 3.22 billion 23.69 million has been collected from the import of paddy rice in that quantity.
Of the total imported paddy rice, 1,850.79 metric tons of paddy seeds worth Rs 818.293 crore have been imported.
Similarly, 4,95138.61 metric tons of paddy worth Rs 18.9552 crore have been imported.
Similarly, 59,634.19 metric tons of basmati rice worth Rs 6.541567 billion, 136,744.68 metric tons of other rice worth Rs 8.993929 billion, 5,533.34 metric tons of Kanika rice worth Rs 228.284 billion and 4.35 metric tons of brown rice worth Rs 736,000 have been imported, the department said.
