Distribution Of Improved Rice To Farmers At 50 Percent Subsidy

May 25, Kathmandu- Birgunj Metropolitan City has started distributing improved rice to farmers at a 50 percent subsidy for rice cultivation. The Metropolitan Corporation has started distributing advanced rice seeds to farmers at half the market price.

Roshni Yadav, head of the Metropolitan Municipality's Agriculture and Livestock Business Promotion Branch, informed that improved rice seeds have been distributed to farmers in all 32 wards of the metropolis at a 50 percent subsidy since last Friday.

According to him, farmers have started distributing Swarnasab 1 and Bahuguni 2 varieties of rice at the rate of Rs 35 per kilo and Hardinath variety of rice at the rate of Rs 37 per kilo for paddy cultivation.

Roshni Yadav, head of the Agriculture and Livestock Business Promotion Branch, informed that the Metropolitan City has purchased 865 sacks or 31 metric tons of improved rice seeds to distribute to farmers for this year's Bhadaiya and Aghani rice cultivation.

She said that the seeds of these rice varieties are being distributed to the farmers from the Varuna Yantra branch premises of the metropolis. She also said that interested farmers can contact the Varuna Yantra branch premises during office hours and get the improved rice seeds.

She said that the seeds of the improved variety of rice are being distributed according to the area of ​​land cultivated by the farmers, that is, at the rate of 1 kg for 1 kaththa of cultivation. According to Yadav, the area of ​​land suitable for rice cultivation in all 32 wards of Birgunj metropolis is 6,749 hectares.
