May 26, Kathmandu- The coronavirus, which has been dormant for two years, has started to reactivate. While news of the corona pandemic increasing in South East Asian countries is coming, it is starting to spread in Nepal's southern neighbor, India.
According to the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the virus has spread across 16 states, with a total of 1,009 active cases. While the overall situation is described as not very dangerous, the number of infections is rising in multiple regions.
The highest number of active cases is in Kerala, with 403 individuals infected. Other affected states include Maharashtra with 430 cases, Delhi with 104, Gujarat with 83, Tamil Nadu with 69, and Karnataka with 47. Smaller numbers have been reported in Uttar Pradesh (15), Rajasthan (13), West Bengal (12), Haryana and Puducherry (9 each), Andhra Pradesh (4), Madhya Pradesh (2), and one case each in Telangana, Goa, and Chhattisgarh.
Health authorities suggest that the spread of coronavirus in Indian border states could potentially impact Nepal. Experts warn of the importance of remaining vigilant and taking timely preventive measures to curb the spread within Nepal.
Nepalese health officials and the public are advised to stay alert, continue practicing health safety protocols, and monitor any developments related to COVID-19 resurgence.
