Teacher Bank To Be Established To Address Teacher Shortage In Key Subjects

May 29, Kathmandu- To tackle the ongoing shortage of teachers in subjects such as English, Science, and Mathematics, the government has announced plans to establish a dedicated teacher bank.  

During the presentation of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel stated that the teacher bank will be operated in collaboration with universities across the country. This initiative aims to ensure a steady supply of qualified teachers in critical subject areas.  

Minister Poudel also mentioned that graduate students will be mobilized as volunteer teachers to support the education sector. This move is expected to supplement the teaching workforce and improve the quality of education in schools facing staffing shortages.  

The government’s efforts are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the education system and address the imbalance in teacher distribution across different regions and subjects. Further details on the implementation plan are expected to be shared soon.
