May 29, Kathmandu- Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has allocated budget of Rs 1.96411 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/083.

The budget, which the private sector expressed satisfaction with, has saddened civil servants and disappointed those who expect social security from the state. In the case of employees, Finance Minister Poudel has increased the dearness allowance by Rs 3,000. Senior citizens will have to wait until they are 70 years old to receive old age allowance. The Finance Minister expects fiscal discipline to be maintained through a budget that is somewhat ambitious and somewhat controlled. The budget implementation aims to achieve a 6 percent economic growth rate.
