Jun 01, Kathmandu - Rural roads in the hilly areas of the district have been blocked due to floods and landslides. Rural roads from the district headquarters Gaighat, including Rauta-Salle and Rauta-Bhutar, have been blocked, said Bishnu Pathak of Rauta-Salle.
He said that due to the heavy rainfall on Saturday morning, rural roads in these areas collapsed and some were buried by landslides. Local Dilliram Magar said that rural roads in the Pambu area, including Rauta-Namanta, Rauta-Aaptar, Nametar-Okhreni, Rametar-Bhadaure, were also blocked. Local Divyaraj Magar said that the road leading to Majhkharka via Rauta-Murkuchi and Dillibar also collapsed at various places and was blocked due to flooding.
Jambu Sherpa of Majhkharka says that even motorcycles are not able to operate due to the continuous rains that have destroyed the rural roads in the hilly areas of the district, creating potholes or being buried by landslides. The rural road leading to Basbote Barah in Limchungbung via Murkuchi-Dillibar-Majhkharka has also been blocked.
Ganga Magar of Dumre said that there is a problem in the operation of transport vehicles, as the Bhalayadanda-Barre and Dumre-Udayapurgadhi roads of Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality have also collapsed.
The road connecting Kothu to Mainamaini in Belka Municipality-8 has collapsed and is blocked. He said that roads in four hill rural municipalities of the district have been blocked due to Saturday's rain.
