Jun 06, Kathmandu - Ruling Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has telephoned Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' after a corruption case was registered against former Prime Minister and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal in the Patanjali land embezzlement case.
Speaking to media persons on the Parliament premises on Friday, Prachanda said that he was surprised when Deuba called him and asked, "What happened?"
"Dewaji doesn't lie," Prachanda said, "Yesterday he called and asked - what happened? How was a case registered against Madhav? He asked me, I was surprised. Instead I should have said - don't you know?"
He said he understood that the case was not filed in consultation with Deuba because his style is straightforward and clear.
Prachanda has described the case as a result of political vendetta. He alleged that the case against former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal was filed on the instructions of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
‘This seems to be a revenge plot,’ he said. ‘Since the matter has reached the court, we should now expect justice from the court.’
Prachanda said that some time ago, the CIAA had handed over the file related to Madhav Nepal and Baburam Bhattarai in the Lalita Niwas land case to the Council of Ministers and returned it. ‘Since it is outside the jurisdiction of the authority, it was said that the decision should be made by the Council of Ministers,’ he said. ‘Now, it is a serious question for the same CIAA to file a case directly against the Prime Minister.’
He said that the nature of the case has increased the possibility of many other issues, such as Giribandhu, the Omni group and other controversial cases, coming before the court in the future.
‘Now no prime minister will be spared,’ Prachanda said, ‘It is not just Madhavji who will be spared, now all prime ministers will be exposed.’
