Jun 08, Kathmandu - Six Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces near a relief distribution center in southern Gaza. A spokesman for the Hamas-run Civil Defense Agency said several people were injured in the shooting.
Witnesses said the shooting began on Saturday morning as people were arriving at a relief center to collect food. Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it fired warning shots only after a suspicious person approached it.
Several Palestinian civilians have been killed and hundreds injured this week while trying to reach aid centers. The US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (IDF) said it had temporarily halted aid deliveries to ensure safety and crowd control.
Despite this, people gather every day at the intersection bordering the Israeli military zone and go to the relief center. The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that they had informed the people of Gaza in advance that it was an active war zone at night.
The IDF said it would not be able to distribute food on Saturday due to threats from Hamas. Hamas denied the accusations.
