Jun 09, Kathmandu - Five people have died after falling from a train in Mumbai, India. According to Central Railway, the incident took place in the middle of Kopar railway station on Monday afternoon.
According to Central Railway, some passengers were travelling in a local train heading towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Some passengers fell off the train near Mumbra station. It is said that the reason for the fall of the passengers was due to overcrowding.
The railway administration and police reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident. The injured passengers were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. The incident is being investigated.
According to initial investigations, the train was overcrowded. Due to which, passengers were travelling hanging from the doors. Some videos of the accident are going viral on social media, where passengers can be seen falling from the train.
The passengers were picked up from the tracks and brought to the platform. All the deceased were between the ages of 30 and 35, Indian media reported.
Following the accident, the Railway Board has decided to install automatic door systems in trains from now on.
