Corruption Case Of Rs 45 million Filed Against Former KMC Engineer Koiri

Jun 09, Kathmandu - The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case against former Kathmandu Metropolitan City engineer Ram Babu Mahato, AKA Ram Babu Mahato Koiri.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a charge sheet against Koiri in the Special Court on Monday on charges of corruption of Rs 45.8 million. While Koiri earned Rs 33.7 million while in office from 19 Baisakh 2046 to 30 Falgun 2078, Koiri's total expenditure and investment was Rs 79.6 million.

A comprehensive analysis of Koiri's income and expenditure shows that the expenditure is disproportionate to the income. Since it has been confirmed that he has been living an unreasonable and unnaturally high standard of living without reasonable cause, a case has been filed against Koiri for the offence under Sub-section (2) of Section 16 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, demanding imprisonment and fine under Sub-section (2) of Section 16 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
