Jun 10, Kathmandu - A new record has been set in remittance inflow. The remittance amount received in the month of Baisakh has set a historical record. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, 165 billion rupees of remittances were received this month. In the previous Baisakh, a total of 115.99 billion rupees of remittances were received.
By the end of Chaitra, remittances worth Rs 1,191.31 trillion had entered Nepal. By the end of Baisakh, this amount has reached 1 trillion 356 billion 610 million rupees. The remittances received during this period were 16.9 percent higher than the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to the National Bank.
During the review period, remittance inflows in US dollars increased by 10.5 percent to Rs 9.96 billion. The previous year, such inflows had increased by 14.8 percent. During this period, net transfers reached Rs 1.479 trillion. In the same period of the previous year, such income was Rs 1.301 trillion, according to the data of the National Bank.
According to the Department of Foreign Employment, the number of Nepalis who obtained final work permits (institutional and individual-new) for foreign employment during the review period was 455,610 and the number of those who obtained re-work permits was 280,314.
Previously, there was a record of Rs 151.2 billion in remittances in a single month. This is the data for last Falgun.
