Yuvraj Safal Files Complaint Against Balen At CIAA

Jun 12, Kathmandu - A complaint has been filed with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) alleging irregularities in the elevator installed at the Kathmandu Metropolitan City office. Advocate Yubaraj Safal has filed a complaint with the Commission against the mayor of the metropolis, Balen Shah, alleging that the elevator was installed in an opaque manner.

“I am not the complainant’s opposition to the installation of a new elevator by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. However, I object to the elevator being installed without competition, without tenders and without quotations, in an opaque and irregular manner, contrary to Section 11 of the Public Procurement Act, 2063 and the Public Procurement Regulations, 2064. Generally, it is mandatory for a government or public body to call for bids when making any purchase or construction,” the complaint states.

The complaint demands that all documents related to the new elevator installed by the metropolis be retrieved and investigated.
