Jun 13, Kathmandu - The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the RPP have maintained their protest in today's meeting of the House of Representatives. After Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed that the agenda had been included in today's meeting and gave time to Hitraj Pandey, the chief whip of the main opposition party, the CPN-Maoist Center, to speak, the RSP and RPP lawmakers stood up and banged the table in protest.
Speaker Ghimire repeatedly asked them to take their seats, but they insisted on being allowed to speak first.
"I am saying again - it is not appropriate to delay the assembly on the issue of who will speak first and who will speak later".
The opposition, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is demanding an investigation into Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in the visit visa case.
However, the Congress-UML and the Maoists have only today reached a two-point agreement on the functioning of the House. The Maoists, which had been opposing the government until yesterday, have now backed down and come to the aid of the Congress-UML.
Despite the Speaker's granting of time, the two parties continued to protest, prompting Hitraj Pandey, the chief whip of the main opposition party, to rise to speak.
