Teenager Arrested In Udayapur For Gold Chain Theft

Jun 14, Kathmandu - A 19-year-old youth has been arrested on charges of snatching gold chains in Udayapur district. Sachin Rajput, a resident of Parsa, was taken into custody on Saturday morning while attempting to steal jewellery from two women at the Saturday Bazar in Chaudandigadhi Municipality-4.

According to police reports, Rajput snatched two gold chains, valued at 10 and 12 annas respectively, from one of the women before fleeing the scene. A police team from Police Station Basah apprehended him as he was attempting to escape.

Rajput, who resides in Ward No. 20, Birgunj Metropolitan City, Parsa, has been detained at the Area Police Office, Beltar. Authorities have stated that further investigation is ongoing.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns over petty thefts in local markets and the importance of community vigilance.
