TU's Commitment To Encourage Students To Join Health Insurance

Jun 20, Kathmandu - An agreement has been reached between the Ministry of Health and Tribhuvan University to provide treatment facilities to students and professors of Tribhuvan University at federal hospitals and institutes.

As per the understanding reached at the ministry in the presence of Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel and TU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khadga KC, treatment facilities will be available in all federal hospitals and institutions through TU's treatment fund based on 90 percent and 10 percent contributions.

The agreement also states that TU will encourage professors and students to join health insurance.

At the program, Minister Poudel urged TU to provide health insurance facilities to everyone in the coming days by including everyone in the organized sector, as the government has already decided to include everyone in the health insurance fund. He believed that TU would soon complete the necessary homework for this.

Stating that resources are being added to make the health insurance program effective and policy reforms are being made, Minister Poudel said that a positive message will be sent when TU professors and students are affiliated.

Ministry Secretary Dilliram Sharma believed that the understanding will be effectively implemented.

TU Vice Chancellor Dr. KC said that the process has been initiated for affiliation with health insurance and a task force will be formed. He said that TU and the ministry will cooperate further in education and health.
