Jun 21, Kathmandu - India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation has ordered the removal of three Air India officials following the Ahmedabad accident.
Divisional Vice President Chuda Singh, Chief Manager in charge of crew scheduling Pinky Mittal, and Payal Arora, who was involved in crew scheduling, have been ordered to be removed from their positions.
Indian media reported that the action was taken against three officials for serious violations of aviation security protocols.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has directed Air India to be relieved of its role in crew scheduling and rostering with immediate effect.
Air India, on the other hand, said that the DGCA's directive has been implemented. The company's Chief Operating Officer will directly monitor the Integrated Operations Control Centre until further notice.
According to news agency PTI, the directive was issued on June 20, which was released today.
The decision was taken in the wake of the Ahmedabad plane crash on June 12. Air India flight AI-171, which was bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff. The plane crashed into the Medical College Hostel, killing a total of 270 people, including passengers.
