61 kg gold smuggling case: Amala presented before government prosecutor

Jun 22, Kathmandu - Amala Roka, who was arrested in the 61-kilogram gold case, has been presented in the government prosecutor.

She was presented in the court today through the government prosecutor's office and preparations are underway to hold a closed-door hearing after completing her statement.

She was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police from Tokha, Kathmandu, last Friday in connection with the smuggling of 61 kilograms of gold that had passed customs and revenue checks at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

The Department of Revenue Investigation had seized 61 kg of gold that had passed customs and revenue inspection at Tribhuvan International Airport on 2 Shrawan 2080.

The arrested woman is said to be the wife of Belgian national Dawa Tshering, who was involved in the 61 kg gold scandal, and the Hotel Vienna in Thamel, Kathmandu, is registered in her name.
