Jun 22, Kathmandu - Hours after the recent US attack, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Modi shared details of the conversation on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In his post, Prime Minister Modi stated, "I spoke to the President of Iran. We discussed the current situation in detail. We expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions. I appealed for de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy to be prioritized. I stressed the need to restore peace, security, and stability in the region as soon as possible."
Despite Iran being targeted in recent military actions, India has yet to publicly declare its position. However, by reaching out to the Iranian President, India has signaled a desire to engage diplomatically amid ongoing regional tensions, even as it maintains significant trade relations with Iran.
