Jun 24, Kathmandu - The opposition party, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has boycotted Monday's House of Representatives meeting.
As soon as the House of Representatives meeting began at 11 am, the RSP MPs stood up and protested.
After that, Speaker Devraj Ghimire gave time to MP Shiva Nepali to speak.
He said that the RSP's stance against human trafficking, corruption and misgovernance is clear. But he said that efforts are being made to suppress the voice of the RSP because it speaks in favor of the people.
"Has the government started considering raising people's issues as a crime?", he said.
"Why is the government silent on crimes like human trafficking? Why is the demand for the formation of a high-level parliamentary or judicial investigation committee being ignored? Why has the Home Minister failed to meet the ethical standards he himself has set?" he asked.
After MP Nepali announced that he would boycott parliament if their demands were not met, the RSP members walked out of the meeting.
